Rating: 4/5

Review: I loved this story so much. I was pleasantly surprised by it! This book has probably been on my kindle for like 6 months or something like that. I have a problem with starting books from authors that I haven't read books written by them. I have no idea why, but it happens. I am really happy that I gave this book and this author a chance though.

Before I read this book, I has heard something about it being inspired by Love Story by Taylor Swift. I could tell, It was amazing, I've always been a fan of Taylor Swift. I even set up a Taylor Swift playlist to listen to while I read this! That being said, while I was reading, the song Teardrops On My Guitar came on and I probably looked pretty funny freaking out cause it said Drew... I am kind of ashamed of my self haha.

So onto the actual book. The idea of reincarnation is a personal favorite of mine for books. I love the idea of second chances and in other series (*Cough* The Immortals by Alyson Noel) they get like a million chances. I love that idea and I think that Michelle Madow did a brilliant job with that idea. Hooking it to the story of Pride and Prejudice was a great idea.

The romance in this book, between Lizzie and Drew, was rather intriguing. I could not put this book down, I swear. I was waiting for the romance and Madow did not disappoint. My favorite scenes had to be the lake scenes! At the first one, I was this (---) close to jumping up and down, happy dancing! My family was looking at me like I was crazy, smiling down at my kindle like a freak. haha

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, young and old. I cannot wait until I start reading Vengeance in a little while! :)

Book Review: The Ghost and the Goth series

Title: The Ghost and the Goth, Queen of the Dead, Body and Soul
Author: Stacey Kade
Publisher: Disney Hyperion
Publication Date: Oct. 14, 2010, June 7, 2011, May 1, 2012
Edition: Kindle
Pages: 281, 272, 316
Source: Bought
Synopsis:

Book 1: Alona Dare–Senior in high school, co-captain of the cheerleading squad, Homecoming Queen three years in a row, voted most likely to marry a movie star… and newly dead.

I’m the girl you hated in high school. Is it my fault I was born with it all-good looks, silky blond hair, a hot bod, and a keen sense of what everyone else should not be wearing? But my life isn’t perfect, especially since I died. Run over by a bus of band geeks—is there anything more humiliating? As it turns out, yes—watching your boyfriend and friends move on with life, only days after your funeral. And you wouldn’t believe what they’re saying about me now that they think I can’t hear them. To top it off, I’m starting to disappear, flickering in and out of existence. I don’t know where I go when I’m gone, but it’s not good. Where is that freaking white light already?

Will Killian–Senior in high school, outcast, dubbed “Will Kill” by the popular crowd for the unearthly aura around him, voted most likely to rob a bank…and a ghost-talker.

I can see, hear, and touch the dead. Unfortunately, they can also see, hear and touch me. Yeah, because surviving high school isn’t hard enough already. I’ve done my best to hide my “gift.” After all, my dad, who shared my ability, killed himself because of it when I was fifteen. But lately, pretending to be normal has gotten a lot harder. A new ghost—an anonymous, seething cloud of negative energy with the capacity to throw me around—is pursuing me with a vengeance. My mom, who knows nothing about what I can do, is worrying about the increase in odd incidents, my shrink is tossing around terms like “temporary confinement for psychiatric evaluation,” and my principal, who thinks I’m a disruption and a faker, is searching for every way possible to get rid of me. How many weeks until graduation? - Synopsis of the first book, From Goodreads.

Book 2: After being sent back from the light, Alona Dare - former homecoming queen, current Queen of the Dead - finds herself doing something she never expected: working. Instead of spending days perfecting her tan by the pool (her typical summer routine when she was, you know, alive), Alona must now cater to the needs of other lost spirits. By her side for all of this - ugh - “helping of others” is Will Killian: social outcast, seer of the dead, and someone Alona cares about more than she’d like.

Before Alona can make a final ruling on Will’s “friend” or “more” status, though, she discovers trouble at home. Her mom is tossing out Alona’s most valuable possessions, and her dad is expecting a new daughter with his wicked wife. Is it possible her family is already moving on? Hello! She’s only been dead for two months! Thankfully, Alona knows just the guy who can put a stop to this mess.

Unfortunately for Alona, Will has other stuff on his mind, and Mina, a young (and beautiful) seer, is at the top of the list. She’s the first ghost-talker Will’s ever met—aside from his father—and she may hold answers to Will’s troubled past. But can she be trusted? Alona immediately puts a check mark in the “clearly not” column. But Will is - ahem - willing to find out, even if it means leaving a hurt and angry Alona to her own devices, which is never a good idea.

Packed with romance, lovable characters, and a killer cliffhanger, Queen of the Dead is the out-of-this-world sequel to The Ghost and the Goth.

Book 3:
The Ghost
I’ve been trapped in the body of Lily “Ally” Turner for a month now. Talk about a fashion crisis on an epic scale. What worries me more, though, is sometimes I catch Will looking at me like he thinks I’m Lily...or that he wishes I were. Without the good looks of my former self, I don’t know who I am, or if who that is is good enough. I need out of this mess. Now.

Will and I have been looking for a solution, one that would separate me from Lily without killing her. But it’s not going well. Then, when it seems like things couldn’t get any worse, we run into Misty, my former best friend and boyfriend-stealer extraordinaire, who claims she’s being haunted...by me. Seriously?

I’m determined to get to the bottom of who’s pretending to be the spirit of Alona Dare (while I’m pretending to be someone else) and then get the heck out of this body. Or die trying...

The Goth
I’ll admit it. It’s really weird to look at Alona but see Lily. I do know the difference, though, contrary to what Alona might be saying. And Alona is more than a pretty face to me, not that she would believe that.

Our one lead for some help in this messed up situation might be a page torn from the yellow pages-—the “Psychics” section-—I found in my dad’s stuff. One of the “fakes” seems a bit more real-—and odd-—than the others. Before I can investigate further, though, Alona is off and chasing a ghost that’s probably nothing more than a figment of Misty’s guilty imagination. Now Lily’s family is freaking out because she didn’t come home, my mom is ordering me to stay out of it, and something is definitely wrong with the person formerly known as Lily “Ally” Turner...

Rating: 5/5 (for all of them!)

Review: So I basically had a read-a-thon with this series! I had heard so many good reviews about this series and I decided to give it a try. I am super glad that I did! I decided to put all three of these reviews in one post because Body and Soul was the last one.

I loved book 1. I think this one was my absolute favorite. It introduced the characters so well! This is the best book that I've read in a long time, by far.  Book 2 kind of dragged a bit. Well not really dragged it just wasn't as exciting as the others. The thing with Mina, I don't even know.. I did not like her one bit. At all. The last book... OhMyGosh.. It was amazing! Not as good as the first one but definitely really close up there in second place. For most of book 3, I thought there would be no happy ending. I am a sucker for happy endings so at the end I literally got up from my reading spot and hopped up and down happy dancing. My family, if they had seen, probably would have sent me to an institution.

At the end of these books, I was super sad. I did not want this series to end. I recommend this series to everyone. I loved the concept, the characters, the plot. This was just an awesome series, I can guarantee that I will probably read this series over and over again. :)

Book Review: Hym and Hur by Phillip Frey

Title: Hym and Hur
Author: Phillip Frey
Publisher: Phillip Frey
Publication Date: January 14, 2012
Edition: Kindle
Pages: 35
Source: Author
Synopsis: In this fantasy-comedy Hym and Hur are a young couple who never age and have been in love for more than a century.  They also possess an array of magical abilities, two of which are either to play pranks on humankind or to perform good deeds.  Enacting both at the same time is now what gets them into trouble.
The prank Hym and Hur have come up with must first be agreed upon by Death, who happens to be a rambunctious, difficult character.  Once agreed upon, the prank is set in motion.  But then Hym and Hur soon discover Death had tricked them into a contract with dire consequences for all of us.
During their attempt to break the contract, Hym and Hur try to save the relationship of an earthbound couple, knowing they are truly meant for each other.  A good deed that will bring Hym and Hur even more trouble.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Review: To start off this review, let me tell you I actually liked this story. I've never really been a fan of short stories, they end too soon. This one I would have loved to see this story a little bit longer. I think that maybe a better back story for the characters would have been really appreciated.

The characters are one thing in particular that I really want to share about. These characters were very comical and they felt very thought out to me. Hym is a personal favorite, I loved his practical jokes! Even if there were only a few. Death was hilarious! He was amazing in his first scene. I didn't get a very strong impression with Hur, I have no idea why. Sarah and Archie's relationship was very cute.

There were a few scenes that I found very memorable in this story. The first is the bar scene with death, very funny. :) I loved Death, I don't know why but I did. The zombie scene was another memorable one. I love zombies! I really didn't think that there would be any in this story, but it was great and very comical. The last one that I want to announce is the Iraq scene. I teared up a bit to put it simply. It was very sad and I think it put that realistic aspect in there that the book neede.

To conclude this review, I want to say that this story is one I would recommend. I enjoyed it and I'm not really a fan of very short stories. This story is one of those ones to read when you have a break or something to just relax and enjoy.

Rating: 5 out of 5

Review: Ok Let's start with this: Rachel Caine continues to be one of my favorite authors! Her books continue to surprise me and make me love them every time I read one. This book was amazing. I probably could have finished this in one sitting, but sleep got in the way. This was one of those books that you don't want to ever put down, but life gets in the way of it.

My favorite part in this book was probably the dream sequence that Shane has. It was perfect. I liked how it was a dream while also being a manifestation of his worst fear. Something about the over all book that was amazing was that we could see what everyone was feeling and thinking, I think that make's Caine's books even better, seeing things from one person's point of view like the earlier books wasn't as fulfilling as the books that have multiple point of views. Call me crazy, but one of my favorite viewpoints in this book was Oliver's. I liked that we got to see things from his point of view because he's shown as this old and cold vampire that has no feelings whatsoever in earlier books, then BAM! you get to see inside his head. It was very fascinating to here what was going on in his head.

Oliver/Amelie:  I loved was the Oliver/Amelie relationship. Their relationship seems like a long time coming thing. I mean they were enemies first, that is a classic cliche that I still manage to love! I can't wait to see their relationship play out.

Shane/Claire: In this book, their relationship in my opinion hit an all time high. The intimacy between them was almost tangible. I think that Shane's dream really accelerated their relationship for the better.

Micheal/Eve: Even though they were in a fight through most of the book, they still managed to fix up most everything. I didn't like how Michael got hurt but, I loved when Eve stabbed him when he tried to scare her though, because you can't beat Girl Power. I was routing for her! I swear during the whole epilogue, I was smiling like, "They finally did it!".

The down side to this book was that the first couple chapters with the draug were kind of drawn out. It seemed like she could have shorten those and added more of other things. I also would have enjoyed more interactions between the Glass house residents, it seemed like there wasn't as much in this book as there was in the earlier ones. Even though it had it's downsides, it still was a great book and I will probably read it over and over.

In conclusion, this was a amazing read and I recommend this and the whole series to everyone! :)

I cannot wait for the next one! As soon as I finished this book, I stopped by Amazon and added it to my cart! :)

Waiting On Wednesday #1

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly Meme, hosted at Breaking The Spinethat spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This is my first ever Meme that I have done. I decided to try one and this one interested me. :)

The book that I am very impatiently waiting on is City Of Lost Souls By Cassandra Clare. I know it comes out in a few days, but this is killing me. :(

Title: City Of Lost Souls
Author: Cassandra Clare
Publication Date: May 8, 2012

Synopsis: The demon Lilith has been destroyed and Jace has been freed from her captivity. But when the Shadowhunters arrive to rescue him, they find only blood and broken glass. Not only is the boy Clary loves missing–but so is the boy she hates, Sebastian, the son of her father Valentine: a son determined to succeed where their father failed, and bring the Shadowhunters to their knees.

No magic the Clave can summon can locate either boy, but Jace cannot stay away—not from Clary. When they meet again Clary discovers the horror Lilith’s dying magic has wrought—Jace is no longer the boy she loved. He and Sebastian are now bound to each other, and Jace has become what he most feared: a true servant of Valentine’s evil. The Clave is determined to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. Will the Shadowhunters hesitate to kill one of their own?

Only a small band of Clary and Jace’s friends and family believe that Jace can still be saved — and that the fate of the Shadowhunters’ future may hinge on that salvation. They must defy the Clave and strike out on their own. Alec, Magnus, Simon and Isabelle must work together to save Jace: bargaining with the sinister Faerie Queen, contemplating deals with demons, and turning at last to the Iron Sisters, the reclusive and merciless weapons makers for the Shadowhunters, who tell them that no weapon on this earth can sever the bond between Sebastian and Jace. Their only chance of cutting Jace free is to challenge Heaven and Hell — a risk that could claim any, or all, of their lives.

And they must do it without Clary. For Clary has gone into the heart of darkness, to play a dangerous game utterly alone. The price of losing the game is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she even still trust him? Or is he truly lost? What price is too high to pay, even for love?

Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series. - From GoodReads

So I have this book preordered and I am thinking that I can hardly wait for this week to be over, because then I can have this book and all will be well. This book has been on my wishlist since Cassandra announced it and it has been preordered since December... Sad, right? Yes.

So enough about me... What book are you waiting on? :)
